Yesterday I went to an Unmounted clinic in Ohio for Upper Level Pony Clubbers. It was quite informational and I really enjoyed it. First we had a slideshow/lecture about conformation in the legs. We discussed what would pre-dispose horses to what injuries and what not. (if you've got a weak stomach I don't suggest these photos...( Then we disected a horses leg.Collapse )

Well today was that lucky day! We found a knew Shady Lace. He is a 16.2, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding. His name was something like Pie-diddle-dee-dum, or something really stupid like that, but I changed it. He looks almost exactly like Trenton's Pride from the movie Racing Stripes... So I renamed him Pride and his show name is "Trenton's Pride" He is such a beautiful animal. Used to be a racer, now an eventer and jumper! He is the perfect horse for what I was looking for. I cant wait until I can start to show him. He did amazing in the lesson today. It was only testing him out and see what he is cappable of... Well I figured out he is cappable of jumping a 4' wooden fence (into the pasture) it was by mistake but he really has his heart set to it. Im so happy I was able to get him. I can get pictures soon. Anyway.. this is a picture of what he exactly looks like... ( Read more...Collapse )

I have a show this weekend, and I entered the reining class. This class is always small so I know as long as I remember the pattern, I can probably go to Districts in it and I don't have to worry about looking like an idiot... BUT!!! I want to go in there knowing something! Yeah its a bit late to train my horse to spin isn't it? But I already have her pivoting half a circle to the right and 1/4 circle to the left(in about 1 hour's work!), but after that she walks out of the pivot, even though I make no movement or change! I know I can't possibly have a proffesional spin, but I'd like atleast 1 out of 4 spins around to be complete, after that maybe we'll perfect all 4... does anybody know how I could possibly get her to keep moving around her hind end instead of twisting her hindquarters around her front before the spin is complete? I also think I'll switch her back on a basic english snaffle tommorrow, because I trained her on it and she was perfect.. now I use a tomb thumb snaffle and she's not as light as she was when she was green.
I can use any help, even if it won't help before this weekend, maybe I'll make it to districts and can use the advice there! - Thanx~
